Music: "All is Full of Love," 1999
I first heard Björk's "All is Full of Love" as part of a very good soundtrack for a somewhat forgettable film - "Stigmata." The film itself is quite good visually but really makes no sense whatsoever; perhaps tellingly, the director, Rupert Wainwright, was responsible for MC Hammer's infamous "U Can't Touch This" music video as well as the abominable 2005 remake of John Carpenter's "The Fog." The "Stigmata" soundtrack, however, is glorious, boasting tracks by David Bowie, Massive Attack, Natalie Imbruglia and Afro Celt Sound System/Sinead O'Connor piece plus an electronic ambient score by Billy Corgan and Mike Garson.
The music video for "All is Full of Love" was rather celebrated following its release, both earning nominations and wins for various awards as well as being placed on permanent exhibition in New York's Museum of Modern Art. No surprise that the director was Chris Cunningham, a renowed artist whose body of work also includes Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy" and Madonna's "Frozen" (another one I'm quite fond of - it's pretty Goth).
